Ferdinand Umali
Pastor
Ferdinand Umali is the Pastor of Greenhills Christian Fellowship Durham (GCFD) since 2025. He has also served as a pastor for other GCF churches in Canada since 2015.
Before he and his family migrated to Canada in 2008, Ferdie worked as a Medical Technologist in the Arabian Peninsula (Middle East) for 25 years. As a “tentmaker,” he served churches in the cities of Manila (4yrs), Riyadh (6yrs), Muscat (15yrs) and Dubai (4yrs) in the capacity of a pastor, teacher, mentor and counselor.
Pastor Ferdie graduated from Tyndale University College and Seminary in 2015 with a degree in Master of Divinity major in Global Mission & Intercultural Studies. He is presently working on his thesis-project to fulfill the requirements of the Doctor of Ministry program at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Massachusetts, USA.
Ferdie and his wife, Beth, live in Scarborough. They have three adult children (JayJay, Jenny, and Jammy), a son-in-law (Troy), and a 4-year old grandson (Levi Benjamin).
Luis Cruz
Founding Pastor (2018-2025)
Pastor Luis planted GCF Durham in 2018 with a heart for discipleship, Bible study groups, and servant leadership. Many have witnessed God's hand through his faithful ministry. As he steps into retirement after years of pouring out, we echo: 'Well done, good and faithful servant' (Matt 25:21). His legacy of transformed lives continues to inspire us. Thank you, Pastor Luis and Jeanna, for saying yes to God's call.
Luis is married to Jeanna for more than 36 years and has been blessed with three wonderful children. He has a big heart for discipling Christians individually and through Bible study groups.
He holds a Bachelor of Ministry in Interdisciplinary Studies from Master’s International School of Divinity in Indiana, U.S.A and a Masters of Theological Studies from Tyndale University, College and Seminary in Toronto, Canada. He also received his doctorate degree for Biblical Studies Major in Biblical Counselling program in November 2019.
Luis is also an ordained pastor of Greenhills Christian Fellowship Toronto.
