Part 2 of One Life to Live Sermon Series 1 John 4:7-12, Luis Cruz
One shot at life, that's all we have. It's either we make good or mess it all up. But either way, God loved those whom He called to Himself. His grace is sufficient and His mercy is always available for the asking.
1. Love like God. V. 9
God’s love is unconditional.
His love is crazy love.
His love is the greatest thing that we can have.
2. Love others above self. V.11; Mark 12:30-31
We were never commanded to love our self because it is already innate in us.
Love God first, then our neighbours.
3. Love our church. V. 12; (cf. Eph. 5:25); Acts 2:42-47
Christ loved and died for His church.
His followers are His church.
We can’t love people without giving commitment.
Togetherness came from the Greek words Epi and Homothumadon, which convey the idea of close proximity and spiritual closeness, respectively.
The early Christians did things together, a pattern to follow.
New Testament Christians worshipped together, fellowshipped together, served one another and looked after each other’s need.
God added to them more people and they grew in number.
